The organisers of Chelsea Antiques & Fine Art Fair have issued an update to the earlier postponement announcement:
We recently made the decision to postpone the forthcoming Chelsea Antiques & Fine Art Fair, November 2022. Unfortunately, due to the uncertain climate and spiralling inflationary costs coupled with the understandable lack of commitment from exhibitors, and an overcrowded calendar of Fairs in 2023, the directors feel that now would be the wrong time to look to schedule the Chelsea Antiques & Fine Art Fair, March 2023 or any further Fairs beyond.
It is a decision not taken lightly particularly given the history of the event. We are proud to have given the event a new lease of life following COVID-19 and hope that in the future it can once again be reinvented as a commercially viable option but for the foreseeable future no further dates are scheduled.
Editor's note:
We are saddened to hear of the cancellation of this - and any event, in the fairs calendar. Organisers are working tirelessly to recover from the impact of the pandemic and to survive the current uncertainty in the world financial markets.
We wish directors Zara Rowe, Sophie Wood and the team good luck with their future projects.
The directors and owners of the Chelsea Antiques and Fine Art Fair regrettably announce that this year’s 2nd staging of the event due to take place 1st – 6th November 2022 has had to be postponed. As I am sure you can appreciate this was by no means an easy decision to make, but one that was made with only the best interests of our exhibitors and visitors alike.
Since taking ownership and rebranding the Fair our priority and focus has always been to connect discerning antique collectors, interior designers, and art enthusiasts with some of the UK’s most innovative, respected, and forward-thinking dealers with the vision to make it a landmark event within the Art & Antiques calendar.
It is no surprise that the uncertain times faced by parts of our industry and indeed the world’s economy have resulted in a significant downturn in the dealers’ ability and desire to commit to events such as Chelsea. Given this downturn in exhibitor numbers and despite the best efforts of the organisers, we felt it would be disingenuous to both our exhibitors and visitors to continue to host the fair in its current form.
The directors value and respect every one of our exhibitors’ and their brands, indeed during the difficult contracting process we stood resolutely behind those values with a clear aim to offer every exhibitor a level playing field from which to work.
