Boasting Europe's largest choice of antiques and collectables Hemswell Antiques is to re open to the public on Monday June 15 following the introduction of extensive health and safety measures in the wake of the current coronavirus pandemic.

The popular retail destination, which employs around 50 staff, has been closed to the public and its 350-plus dealers since March 24.

Since then, Managing director Mr Robert Miller and a skeleton staff have been on site, socially distanced at all times and worked hard to ensure the earliest possible re-opening of the four buildings which comprise Hemswell Antique Centres, with the safety of dealers and the public in mind.

Robert told ANF: "I am delighted to announce that we will be opening all the buildings at Hemswell Antique Centres on 15th June 2020. While the skeleton team have been busy with good online sales and answering telephone calls and emails or social media enquiries over the past couple of months, we know that there is no substitute for a visit in person.

We have followed government guidance throughout all areas in order to safeguard all our visitors, staff and dealers and, as a result, we have implemented new working practices which will be in place by 15 June.

All our staff will be attending a full induction and I have introduced strict social distancing, incorporating clear one-way systems throughout the buildings along with desk screens and extra hygiene procedures. At Hemswell, we have plenty of space so there is no need to get closer than two metres at any stage.

Volunteer two metre social distancing wardens will be on hand to make sure people are observing the rules. However, we will restrict visitor numbers if necessary - particularly at weekends. Our company code of conduct includes a clear instruction to all our staff not to attend work if they or any member of their household have or are suspected of having Covid-19 - they are required to stay at home and follow government guidelines on self-isolating."

Further precautions will be in place with contactless payments actively encouraged where possible throughout all buildings and a structured schedule set up for dealers to attend their pitch or cabinet to change or restock.

ANF wishes all staff and clients at Hemswell good luck for the re-opening!
