ABOUT THIS VIRTUAL EXHIBITION:

Matthew Hall of Panter & Hall has responded to our current crisis, which finds many of his peers under house arrest, with a very personal curated virtual exhibition of his back catalogue.  The full exhibition can be viewed via this link A Dealer's Eye

Matthew is an active member of the art trade.  He runs 2 central London galleries, Panter & Hall and Cecil Court, and is co-organiser of the new dealer run Connect Art Fair.  He is also on the board of LAPADA.  His dealer's eye is easy to discern in this diverse collection of many years in the art world.

Matthew: "My apologies for the rather pompous title but after much discussion with my colleagues it was decided that ‘They’re my pictures, I just want to be alone with them’ and ‘Nothing to see here please move on to Philip Mould* next door’ would probably send the wrong marketing message. Anyway, while feeling the reluctance to part with any of my precious charges, I am aware of the need, in these straightened times, to actually offer some for sale. After all, I’ve been reminded, that is the Panter & Hall raison d'être. Apparently.

So here we are, forty-six original works from the vaults, all carefully chosen, acquired over a couple of decades and in some cases only recently cleaned and framed before the current crisis shut the off-line world down."

All paintings can be purchased through our fully transactional website although for obvious reasons we are currently unable to offer collection or delivery. We will keep your paintings safe and fully insured in the gallery and will be in touch to arrange logistics as soon as we are on the other side of the crisis."

BERNADETT TIMKO: THESE DAYS

27 MARCH - 17 APRIL

We think Bernadett is the youngest artist ever to have held a solo show at Panter & Hall, now in her mid twenties she has had more of a career to date than many artists twice her age. Her paintings represent the best of current contemporary painting, in her work she maintains a confident balance between the pitfalls of too slavish adherence to the past and the temptation to stab mindlessly at the canvas in an attempt to appear Contemporary. What Bernadett has in spades, apart from her remarkable talent, is focus. She ploughs her own distinctive furrow, sitting precariously in the stylistic cradle of the Mall Galleries and the New English style but tempering each painting with a refreshing honesty and gritty domesticity that we haven’t seen authentically since the Kitchen Sink School of the 1950s.
