2020 LAPADA Annual Conference - 3 March 2020

2020 LAPADA Annual Conference
OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS!

 

LAPADA’s annual conference will move from its former location in the House of Lords to take place at historic RSA House on Tuesday 3rd of March. The conference will develop around the theme ‘Opportunity Knocks', exploring innovation and change in the arts and antiques industry and the future opportunities these present.

The conference anticipates the participation of approximately 130 industry delegates, and in addition to providing a chance to hear world class speakers, it will also represent an invaluable networking opportunity for industry professionals to discuss these and other issues.

Xavier Bray

The conference’s keynote address, The Wallace Collection: Past, Present and Future will be delivered by Dr Xavier Bray, Director, The Wallace Collection and renowned XIII Century art expert. Dr Bray is known for his forward-thinking approach, experimentation and risk-taking along with his dedication to ensuring that The Wallace Collection reaches a wider audience and continues to thrive.

Ewan Venters, CEO, Fortnum & Mason will also take centre stage for a session entitled Evolution Not Revolution. Having overseen a successful brand that has been able to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, Venters will discuss how to engage with new, younger and more international audiences while maintaining a traditional base. He will also consider what art and antiques businesses can learn from the luxury retail sector.

For an industry that has sometimes struggled to harness the power of digital media, Ben Mason, Founder and Director of the communications company The Tom Sawyer Effect will  give practical advice on how dealers can maximise reach and develop brand identity online. The talk will encompass the use of social media, influencer engagement and digital content.

With 2020 branded by many as “the year of sustainability”, the conference will close with a panel discussion on sustainability in the arts and antiques industry. Panellists will include interior designer Edward Bulmer, Adam Hills from the design studio Retrouvius, Nigel Worboys, dealer and founder of Antiques Are Green, and Kelli Ellis, internationally renowned interior designer and VP of Industry Relations at Ronati, the US company providing technology based solutions for the art and antiques industry, Editor-at-Large of Antiques Trade Gazette Noelle McElhatton will moderate as they discuss how the industry can embrace the sustainable movement, access a younger generation and make businesses greener.

Commenting on the conference agenda, Freya Simms, LAPADA’s CEO, says, “The annual LAPADA conference is an invaluable opportunity for our members to step outside their trading environment and invest in themselves.  It provides a constructive programme of industry experts covering directly relevant issues, whilst also seeking to educate and inspire, introducing individuals and business insights from which delegates can learn.”

Tickets cost from £125 for LAPADA members, £135 for LAPADA affiliates. 

LAPADA has announced a special offer on tickets for March 2020 at £135 for non members (normally £155).

The ticket will include morning refreshments, a working lunch and networking drinks sponsored by Ronati in the afternoon.
