ABOUT THIS FAIR:

The Spring edition of The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair, Battersea, will place from Thursday 14 to Monday 18 May 2020,in a new five-day format, and with extended opening hours on the Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Moving the Spring edition into May offers flexibility for both visitors and the organisers with Bank Holidays to juggle with when planning this important event. Future Winter and Autumn editions will retain their usual Tuesday to Sunday six day format.

Autumn 29 Sept-4 Oct 2020  //  Winter 26-31 January 2021 //  Spring 13-17 May 2021

The Spring edition of the Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair is celebrating the new season in the themed Showcase it presents in the Foyer, with The Secret Garden, themed to coincide with a new film adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s much-loved book, in which a young girl, Mary Lennox, travels from India to a new life in England.  The display, which will highlight the many different design specialities offered by exhibitors, will be presented as a veranda, drawing inspiration from the child’s early years, blending Raj-influenced exoticism with a nod to the Edwardian era in which the book is written.  Anglo-Indian and colonial style pieces in dark woods, ornate with carving or decoration such as inlay, will mix with light-coloured rattan, bamboo, wicker, cane and rush pieces as befitting a veranda setting, and reflecting the current interiors trend for such materials.

The fair attracts an international audience with more than a sprinkling of celebrities. Expect to see antiques and 20th century design for interior decoration, with an emphasis on the unusual and the unexpected from around 160 exhibitors who will show an enormous variety from primitive and early country furniture to fine Georgian antiques suitable for the most formal settings; Arts & Crafts; Art Nouveau; Art Deco and every aspect of good 20th century design.  There is a wide selection of European stock hailing from Finland to Italy, and classic British pieces from every corner of the isles. A plethora of essential accessories and decorative arts such as mirrors, lighting, textiles, glass- and table-ware, ceramics and treen, can be found at prices to suit all budgets.  There is art for every taste including contemporary works, and jewellery, silver and objects to tempt collectors and the curious.  Garden antiques, always to be found, become a particular feature at the Spring Fair.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

What they say: celebrated American designer Kelli Ellis was at the recent Winter Fair (January) and said: “Battersea was a designers dream fair! I was most impressed with the perfect mix of dealers, goods and price points. With shippers standing by, I could furnish my clients’ homes and hospitality projects with some of the most unique and spectacular pieces I’ve seen in a long time! It’s a must- do fair in central London!”  Ms. Ellis’s work has been featured frequently in Traditional Home Magazine, Luxe Magazine and Boutique Design Magazine; she has designed homes for Hollywood’s jet set, and the latest chain of America’s premiere wellness brand, SCP Hotels.

The fair is unique in its relaxed atmosphere and parkland setting of the venue, Evolution in Battersea Park, with parking!  There is also a courtesy shuttle bus service which runs four times an hour from outside the Sloane Square Hotel to the venue.  A stroll along the riverside from either Albert or Chelsea Bridges, past the famous Pagoda, will bring visitors to the Fair in no time.  Upstairs on the mezzanine is Battersea Kitchen, with views across the Park – a great place to enjoy breakfast, a freshly-cooked hot lunch, sandwich or salad bar, and scrumptious afternoon tea and cakes.  Local and international shipping requirements can be handled on site.
