ABOUT THIS FAIR: |
Harrogate based organisers, Galloway Antiques Fairs, set out their antiques and fine art fair at Duncombe Park throughout the servant quarters downstairs before taking visitors upstairs to the grand state rooms including The Stone Hall and The Salon. Visitors to the fair are also able to look in all of the rooms in the house, even those not used by the antiques fair including the library, ladies withdrawing room and the bedrooms on the third floor. Weather permitting, the gardens will also be open for visitors to walk around. A superb day out for anyone attending as this house is not generally open to the public, so a real opportunity to see this historic house as well as a great array of antiques and fine art for sale. |
Jack Shaw - A beautiful silver grouse for sale at £1850. It has full hallmarks from London dated 1900 by Berthold Muller.
WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR: |
Duncombe Park is one of Yorkshire’s foremost historic houses and estates, and home to the Duncombe family. The original house was built in 1713 for Thomas Duncombe, and following a fire in 1879 the first earl of Feversham remodelled the interiors. Following the death of the second Earl of Feversham at the battle of The Somme in 1916, Duncombe Park was leased as a girl’s school, but was returned to a loving family home in 1985 when it was lovingly restored and refurbished. |
Rowles Fine Art - A fabulous limited edition bronze figure of a mare and her foal.
Graham Reed Fine Art - A beautiful oil painting ‘Children playing on a Beach’ by Victorian artist Alfred John Billinghurst (RBA 1880 – 1956) priced at £2750.
