Bringing the antiques of tomorrow to the storied interiors of today, The Decorative Fair is excited to introduce this Autumn, 4-9 October, Contemporary on the Mezzanine, a new curated section at the Fair.  Featuring leading dealers in modern craft and design, on offer will be exciting, creative works for decorating with and to collect, by the best established and emerging makers and artists of today.

  • 155a Gallery - contemporary paintings, drawings, works on paper, ceramics and sculpture with a ‘quiet nature’ by emerging and established international artists.
  • Cavaliero Finn - heirloom pieces and expertly crafted objects by some of Britain’s leading contemporary artists, championing originality and aesthetic beauty.
  • Jaggedart - beautiful, intricate and sophisticated works of art, focusing on the unusual and beautiful use of materials: mainly 3-D works also painting, photography and works on paper.
  • MadeInBritaly - contemporary applied arts and collectable design by current and new artists in a variety of media including ceramic, glass, wood and textiles.
  • Ruup & Form - creative craft and design in all its forms, specialising in contemporary textile, ceramics, glass, wood, paper and interdisciplinary works by renowned and emerging makers.
  • Thrown - exceptional contemporary art and design, specialising in ceramics, by internationally acclaimed names alongside emerging talent.

The autumn edition of the Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair has attracted a bevvy of exciting new exhibitiors, in total the downstairs hall will host 135 exhibitors.

Making a debut are:

  • Peter Last Ltd with antique and decorative picture frames (Bristol)
  • Westland London offering prestigious antique fireplaces and fine decorative antiques including sculptures, lighting and architectural pieces (Willesden, London)
  • Laura Bordignon, leading BADA member, with Japanese works of art (by appointment)
  • Vistavka Fine Art, with a wide variety of art fine from 18th century prints to 20th century wood engravings (by appointment)
  • King George Antiques, with decorative furniture, garden and architectural antiques (by appointment and at The Swan, Tetworth)

Returning to exhibit at the Fair from Europe post-Covid/Brexit is Katheleys with a tempting range of vintage couture jewellery, accessories and pre-owned luxury bags by leading designers, fashion houses and brands (Belgium).  They join fine antique textile dealer Villa Rosemaine (France), Catherine Despas with C20th design (Paris), Ruddy with antique and C20th pictures, furniture and objects (France) and Galerie Arabesque with textiles, rugs and oriental works of art (Stuttgart) who made their return in the past year.

The Fair is delighted to welcome back Fontaine Decorative, country house style, paintings, garden antiques and decoration, Anthony Hepworth Fine Art (Modern British, Post-War and contemporary painting and sculpture), On-Reflection (mirrors), Marie Ducasse Design (C20th French, Italian and Scandinavian), Kiki Design (antiques, modern design and decorative textiles), and Nikki Page Antiques (decorative antiques, objects and garden pieces).

Also coming to the mezzanine, a new destination restaurant and bar - Bacus - serving fine food and wine from morning to evening, with an emphasis on excellence, freshness, international flavours and great service.  Visitors can indulge in brunch, lunch or an aperitivo to fuel their day out, or relax at one of the new bars and enjoy prestigious champagnes by Louis Roederer and Sussex Sparkling by Rathfinny Estate.  Bacus is created especially for the Fair by Richmond-based duo, City Wine Collection and Kapucin Café, these well-loved institutions now bring their superb hospitality to Battersea.

Among highlights for sale at the Fair will be the glamorous late C18th painted Swedish cupboard featured in the Autumn Fair’s marketing image (offered by Wakelin & Linfield), a fine C19th Louis XV Rococo chimneypiece carved from beautifully veined breccia seravezza marble (offered by Westland London), a colourful late 1950s Asafo flag in cerise red embellished with a mother hen and chicks, symbolising the Asafo warrior looking after the village (offered by Tribal Art & Textiles), and from Nick Jones, a fine French walnut commode circa 1780, with the stamp of ébéniste Jean Baptiste Courte (1749-1843).

Nick Jones - C1820 A stylish French walnut empire console table with grey marble top,
an unusual and really elegant piece. Priced at £3600.

Westland London - pair of urns     

Westland London - A very fine pair of bronze vases, taking the form of the Townley Vase.
The vases are modelled on a krater, a Greek vessel used for mixing water and wine. Each vase has
elegantly scrolling bifurcated gilt handles, and the body of the vases are cast in high relief
and depict a bacchanalian procession, featuring Bacchus on Ariadne. The vases are mounted on
Belgian black marble pedestal bases, on which are mounted lion masks with rings in their mouths.
The interior of the vases are beautifully gilded. English, c.1860. Listed Price: £3,200 (+VAT where
applicable)

TICKET INFO:

Admission: The Fair opens from 12 noon on Tuesday 4 October when leading decorators and trade buyers queue avidly with keen members of the public to be first in line to see their favourite exhibitors.  The event opens daily thereafter from 11am until Sunday 9 October; closing times vary.  Bacus is open to the public an hour prior to the Fair.  Tickets: Opening Day £20 p/p, Weds-Sun £10 p/p.
