We know that trading at fairs generates valuable income and to have to cancel events is far from ideal, however we feel we have a responsibility to cancel our April events.

Whilst we are realistic and take the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff seriously we have to remain optimistic and will continue planning for the rest of our 2020 events and hope that the summer season of Decorative Home & Salvage Shows will kick-off at Ripley on 8thMay as planned.

We will continue to update you via our social media: Facebook @arthurswallowfairs, Instagram and Twitter @asfairs and over on our blog at asfairs.com.

EVENT: IACF MULTIPLE EVENTS

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Will Thomas CEO IACF

Our thoughts go out to you all who have been affected by this unprecedented event. The health of our stallholders and loyal buyers is our absolute priority and I want to reassure you that we have been doing everything in our power to manage this very difficult situation. Most venues have been saying it’s ‘business as usual’ as the government has not banned large gatherings, just recommended they don't take place.

We disagree and so the following fairs have been postponed or cancelled:

Newbury (cancelled) Monday 30th March

Newark (cancelled) Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd April

Peterborough (postponed) Friday 10th and Saturday 11th April

Ardingly (cancelled) Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd April

Runway (cancelled) Newark Monday 27th April and Monday 18th May

Alexandra Palace Sunday 3rd May (not yet confirmed but anticipated

MORE DETAILS:

To help in these difficult times IACF would also like to extend the offer of two months free on our LoveAntiques.com platform for anyone currently booked into our fairs. LoveAntiques is the fastest growing antiques website in the UK and we hope that this offer will help our dealers keep selling while our fairs are forced to close.

Peterborough - The Festival of Antiques will be rescheduled to the summer. The date of the new summer fair will be released as soon as we have contracted confirmation from the venue. All bookings will be transferred to this date.

Newark - We are not able to reschedule the Newark fairs because they occur regularly throughout the year.  Your booking will be automatically transferred to the next Newark Fair on 4th-5th June.

Ardingly - No payment will be taken for the now cancelled event in April and we hope to see you again on 23rd-24th June.

Runway - No payment will be taken for the now cancelled events in April and May and we hope to see you again on 29th June. However, this fair would be easy to reinstate should the public health situation change for the better.  We will keep you advised.

Newbury - If you are booked for Newbury we will contact you about transferring payment to the fair in July.

Alexandra Palace - At the moment Alexandra Palace have confirmed that the venue has closed until the end of April. We anticipate that this will be extended into May but have not yet received confirmation. Once this happens IACF will transfer all May bookings to the September fair.

Shepton Mallet - We do not anticipate any changes for this event 12th-13th June, it is likely to continue as planned.

In summary, all bookings for the above cancelled or postponed fairs will be transferred to the next date at that venue. This will be done automatically so there is no need to contact the office. As you can appreciate, IACF are still incurring significant costs during this period.

EVENT: The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair

DATES: 14-18 May 2020

STATUS: Cancelled

STATEMENT FROM ORGANISER: Jane Juran & Darren Hudson:

We have been closely monitoring the unfolding of the global coronavirus situation, and the steps government is taking to try and control this.

Current predictions are that the epidemic in this country will peak during May, when our Spring 2020 Fair is scheduled to take place from 14-18 May.  To run the event would endanger our exhibitors, our team and our visitors, and we are not prepared to take those risks, even if it were permitted.  We have therefore taken the decision that we must cancel the Spring event.

This is the first fair in 35 years we have had to cancel and we are desperately disappointed.  We would like to thank our wonderful exhibitors for their support, and we look forward to presenting the Autumn fair from 29 September to 4 October 2020.

STATUS: Going ahead

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Galloway Fairs: Dealers are arriving here in Perth. Please share this information as it's important to let people know that life is carrying on as normal up here.

EVENT: The Open Art Fair

STATUS: Going ahead

DATE: 18-24 March 2020

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Thomas Woodham Smith

Following the Prime Ministers announcement that large events can go ahead I can confirm that the fair will proceed as planned. Exhibitors who have health issues or relatives with health problems may not attend but over 90% have said they will be putting their best feet forward.

We feel this fair is important as a statement to the art world that we can and must continue to trade. Wisely, judiciously but above all we must continue. The fair is in a tent with high ceilings and plenty of ventilation, our new layout gives the dealers greater depth to their stands which means more physical separation.

Finally to enhance our digital presence we have a virtual tour featuring every stand which will be available 2 days after the opening. Not to deprive physical visitors of the first bite of the cherry. We are not charging exhibitors for this.

EVENT: Chelsea Antiques Fair

STATUS: Cancelled

DATE: 18-20 March 2020

COMMENTS FROM ORGANISER: Caroline Penman: I am sorry to have to take this decision at such a late stage but many exhibitors have contacted me and I have decided that the fair cannot go ahead. Dates have been reserved for the next Chelsea Antiques Fair: 17 - 21 March 2021.
