Dan Leyland

Outgoing Clarion Show Director and former colleague of Dan Leyland, Mary Claire Boyd told ANF that she was delighted to hand over to Dan who is an experienced Clarion team member, veteran of a number of both Olympia and NEC events, and who knows the exhibitors and will be perfectly poised to take the fair forward. "Expect business as usual for the Summer Art & Antiques Fair for Everyone" she confirmed.“The new team have huge experience, passion and knowledge of AAfE, the venue, market and the requirements of the dealers. This puts them in a good position to take the Fairs forward. Meanwhile we continue our strong commitment to the two Olympia Fairs in June and November.

As very proud custodians of the AAfE Fairs for many years, it has been our privilege to own and support these events which have always been a true staple of the art and antiques trade. Working alongside many long standing and knowledgeable dealers has been an honour as well as hugely enjoyable and integral to the AAfE Fairs success. These fairs rightly have an enviable position in the market. It is our wish and aim for the strength of these fairs to continue for many years to come and by transferring ownership to MaD Events, we believe we have achieved these aims.”

Dan Leyland's new company MAD Events has been formed in partnership with his former Clarion colleague Marisa Beckman who has been responsible for the strategic side of business for some of the major Olympia Fairs, in addition to the Olympia Horse Show, The Windsor Horse Show. Also coming on board will be popular long time Clarion colleague Pippa Dawson.

Dan told ANF:  We are now in the cycle for the Summer edition of Art & Antiques for Everyone so have no plans to change anything for this upcoming event but we hope that the exhibitors will know that we are one of them - business people who have invested in the business of antiques fairs and put our own heads on the block!  We do not expect to have a Bentley parked on our drive or a private island in Mauritius but we do expect to run a friendly and all encompassing fair where we look forward to hearing feedback from exhibitors. We will ensure a level playing field for everyone so that all exhibitors benefit. A keynote will be that furniture dealers will be encouraged to return to the fair with more space at affordable stand pricing to allow for accessible roomsets to inspire the public.

We are just a really small set up now but we have some great ideas for this important event in the fairs calendar and we will be talking to a variety of potential new collaborators for future fairs.
