Guest Blogger Grant Nicholas of IACF Ltd Fairs gives details of a two for one offer at Newark 11/12 October 2018 and reports on a long hot summer and what lays ahead for the company in Autumn and Winter 2018 and the new calendar for 2019.
Autumn rolls around again; the kids go back to school; the evenings draw in and it’s harvest festival time. The hedgerows are bursting with fruit on the vine, it’s time for blackberry crumble and dewberry wine!
Unfortunately, that terrific spell of weather at the start of the summer (May, June and most of July) disintegrated into a rather mixed bag, didn’t it? Still, better to have had the sun and lost it than never to have had the sun at all! It did mean that those fairs held from May through to the end of July had glorious sunshine - for the most part - and were well attended as a result. Best of all the outside stock (and dealers) stayed dry and we all had superb sun-tans!
So, what have the months up until Christmas got in store for the avid iacf antique hunter? Let’s see…

A word from Will...
Dear Stallholders & Fair-goers,
I’d like to start by saying how pleased we all are here - at both IACF and Love Antiques - that the antiques trade appears to be in such a healthy state. It is satisfying to see how our recent acquisition of the Staffordshire Fair at Bingley Hall has grown as we had hoped, and – with such excellent quality stock - it is already on its way to becoming a major feature in all antique lover’s diaries. We also continue to see growth in the number of dealers signing up to our website LoveAntiques.com and the number of visitors to this site has increased greatly over recent months too. It’s gratifying, also, to see that it is working exactly as we envisioned, with it being a place that dealers, buyers and collectors can go to between the fairs, in order to continue to do business throughout the year.
Happy Antique Hunting

What's New?
Books at Ally Pally
Visitors to our recent fair at Alexandra Palace on Sunday 2 September would undoubtedly have noticed the large section devoted to rare vintage and antique books and other associated ephemera. This large area of the event was occupied by the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association (PBFA), who will also be attending the Ally Pally Fair on Sunday 2 December. Books are always a popular Christmas gift, so why not pop along in December to find something truly unique and possibly very rare.
Its all about the books!
New Bingley Hall Fair in Staffordshire grows as anticipated
With only two fairs under our belts at Bingley Hall – the first with only 2 weeks’ notice - we are very pleased to say that stallholder bookings have already increased by 40% from the time we agreed to take on the event. If things continue as we expect, we know that this fair will return to its rightful place as one of the country’s finest antiques events; an absolute must for all antiques enthusiasts. With two events still to go in 2018 and six booked for 2019, make sure you don’t leave it too long before visiting Bingley and experiencing what this fair has to offer.

2019 Calendar Dates now available
You can now download a PDF of the calendar of dates for all of the biggest and best Antiques Fairs around the country in 2019 visit IACF Year Planner 2019.
You will notice that most of our fairs remain on dates very similar to those of previous years, however, it should be noted that, though we again have four Newbury Fairs during 2019, three of these will be one-day Monday Fairs and only one will be the weekend Saturday & Sunday Fair – so make sure you come to the right one, if not all! The other obvious changes are the addition of the six Bingley Hall Fairs, each held over three days from 11am on Friday morning. The first hour (until 12 noon) is designed to primarily be for the trade and so is priced at £10. From 12 noon on Friday onwards, it will be £5. Please see our website for directions, times and other information.
Test your antiques knowledge
We’ve been contacted by Hungry Gap Productions, who are working on a brand-new antiques game show for BBC One, hosted by Paul Martin from Flog It! and Countryfile Diaries. They are on the hunt for contestant teams of two to take part in this series requiring them to use their skills, expertise and intuition against the clock to value and date a host of antique items. So, ideally, they are looking for participants with good knowledge and a keen interest in antiques – and it can be anyone from stallholders to interested amateurs.
