CHEAP,
CHEERFUL AND CHIC
by Our Own Motoring Correspondent |
|
Today
more dealers are selling small antiques than furniture, so their
load luggers can come in similiarly pint-size proportions. The
choice is immense. However for something cheap, cheerful and
chic, the Fiat Panda takes some beating. It is made in Poland
using the latest technology and appears to be very reliable.
Car of the Year 2004, the new Panda is ideal for antiques dealers
who do not need a bulk carrier. It is pure practicality that
can find its way into parking spaces where other cars cannot
squeeze.
With the back seats flat, the 775dm3 load space is ideally shaped
for boxes of stock with a wide opening, easy access tailgate.
Happy on the motorway as well as in town, the 1.1 litre petrol
Panda does 50mpg. The UK on-the-road list price is £6295,
with discounts of around £400 readily negotiable.

them high! This has long been dealers' practice when
it comes to antiques and Volvo estate cars, numerous
in the trade having covered many miles. Readers' Volvo
experiences welcomed for publication. E-mail address

Volvo estate
cars have been associated with antiques dealers since the 1960s.
This year the Swedish car firm celebrates its 75th anniversary.
Dealers who run a Volvo could do well joining one of the make's
drivers associations and benefit from substanial savings on
spares, servicing, insurance and suchlike.
The Volvo Enthusiasts Club (telephone 01872 553740) covers all
out-of-production models. That takes in everything up to and
including the 740/940/960 range - the estate cars with the largest
load space Volvo have ever made.
The Volvo Owners Club (www.volvoclub.org.uk) welcomes drivers
of all models including current V70s.
