Chester’s Farm Antiques - A Doulton Lambeth richly decorated stoneware vase by Edith Rogers, 1881, priced at £575.

ABOUT THIS FAIR:

With pieces dating from the Tudors to the Windsors, there’s much to discover at the 3rd popular annual Burford Antiques Fair which runs from 28-29 July at Burford School, just a few minutes from the centre of the well-known and picturesque Cotswolds gateway town.

Around 40 specialist dealers from across the country will be exhibiting, providing a major opportunity for collectors, furnishers, fine art connoisseurs and anyone looking for a special purchase – jewellery, silver, watches and luxury personal accessories.

Caroline Penman of Penman Fairs told ANF: "Our eclectic range of art, antiques and decorative pieces means there is something for everyone and we very carefully examine every stand, to ensure each object for sale meets the vetting standards before we open."

Chester’s Farm Antiques- -A rare and large Wedgwood plaque with impasto painting by Samuel Bateman, 1887 with decoration in the Art Nouveau style, priced at £1,850.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:
Look out for everything from early oak carvings from Newsum Antiques, formal Georgian furniture from W R Harvey – both Cotswolds dealers. Jewellery is on offer from Shapiro & Co, Brieve Antiques and Sue Johnson. There will be a good selection of silver for collectors, from Vine Antiques and Schredds of London, plus Danish silver, watches and jewellery from Dansk Silver.

Always popular, watch out for Arts & Crafts furniture and accessories, Art Deco vases by Galle and Lalique, French and Austrian Art Nouveau bronze sculpture. Among the specialists will be Hall-Bakker Decorative Arts from Heritage at Woodstock, showing exceptional examples of post-1860 design.

The venue has long been associated with ceramics fair so expect to find a wide selection of porcelain, with specialists in this field Jupiter Antiques, David Scriven, S&J Abbott, Antiques 24, and Robert Hawker attending.

A great variety of paintings will include modern British paintings from Granta Fine Art & Mulberry Gallery, 19th century watercolours from Aquila Fine Art and oil paintings from Ashleigh House.

W.R. Harvey Antiques - A comfortable pair of early 19th century mahogany armchairs with turned and reeded top rails, carved centre splats flanked by downswept arms, caned seats with cushions and raised on sabred legs. The construction and design of this fine pair of chairs suggests they were made in Northern Europe, possibly Germany Circa.1810 priced at £2,500.

Mark Newsum Antiques - A charming and whimsical lion figurine in bisque and yellow ochre. This Lisa Larson classic was designed in the late 1960s for Gustavsberg. 14cm tall, priced at £245.
