Annual Buxton Fair Postponed Until May 2019

Antiques News & Fairs - Annual Buxton Fair Postponed Until May 2019

Cooper Events have announced the postponement of The 54th Annual Buxton Antiques Fair until May 2019. Sue Ede, organiser of Cooper Events, said: "Due to the late-running refurbishment of the Octagon Hall at Buxton Pavilion Gardens, we regret this year's fair cannot go ahead. The building is only now coming to the end of its building programme and we cannot guarantee everything will be ready for September."

In the past two years, the fair was held in a temporary pavilion alongside the Octagon building, but that has not been available this year. Originally expected to run as usual in May 2018, the fair had already been rescheduled for 13-16 September.

Sue adds: "Now we look forward to returning to the Octagon Hall for a major relaunch event from 16-19 May 2019."

The Buxton Antiques Fair enjoys a strong reputation as one of the few remaining fairs in the UK that has a long and successful history dating back more than half a century. With its special setting, in the famous spa town in the heart of the Peak District, the fair has always been a major fixture in the calendar. Cooper Events took over the fair in 2009 and mounted a successful relaunch of this long running event.

Next year, the fair will benefit from the complete refurbishment of the Octagon building, with a new floor, fixtures and fitments. The fair has always been supported by the famous Buxton Opera House and, latterly, the Buxton Festival, which will continue in 2019.
