Philip Mould & Co Exhibition Cedric Morris: Beyond the Garden Wall

Over the past two weeks Philip Mould & Company have welcomed almost 1000 visitors to their exhibition ‘Cedric Morris: Beyond the Garden Wall’. The show, which explores the significance that travel had on Britain’s most celebrated artist-plantsman, has gained a wide range of press coverage and we have received a profound level of engagement from the public.

It is clear that the paintings of Sir Cedric Lockwood Morris (1889-1982) continue to entice and delight whether they be still lifes, travel works, pencil sketches, portraits or flower paintings. Morris is an artist worthy of reassessment and contemporary recognition and we hope you are able to visit the gallery over the coming months to see why.

Cedric Morris: Beyond the Garden Wall is open until 22nd July and visiting times are as follows:  09:30 – 18:00 Monday – Friday with the exception of the final weekend during which time the gallery shall be open.

The Cedric Morris Lectures At The Garden Museum Lambeth

As part of our collaboration with the Garden Museum in Lambeth, the museum is hosting a series of lectures exploring the multifarious aspects of Cedric Morris’s life as a painter, a planter, a breeder of irises and a mentor to the young Lucian Freud (1922-2011). The first lecture in the series, hosted by Philip and entitled Discovering Cedric Morris, sold out. On behalf of Philip Mould & Company we would like to thank all those who attended, including Richard Morphet, former keeper of the Modern Art Collection at Tate and author of the seminal 1984 Tate retrospective catalogue of Morris’s work.

Please contact the museum or Philip Mould & Company for any future lecture dates.
