Glass Expert Andy McConnell to host weekend of events in Suffolk 26-27 October

East Anglia based Specialist Glass Fairs are delighted to announce that BBC Antiques Roadshow glass expert Andy McConnell will be coming to their part of the world to host two events to delight glass collectors at Clare, Suffolk on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October 2018.

Andy McConnell is one of Britain’s leading authorities on glassware of all types, and his books have covered the subject from 1650 to the present. He was the first glass specialist recruited to BBC Antiques Roadshow, for which he has now recorded twelve series. He lectures widely on glass and writes for journals as diverse as The Times & Daily Telegraph, Country Life, Homes & Antiques & Glass Circle News. Andy is a witty, spontaneous speaker who is delighted to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject with the audience on the day. He and his wife, Helen, run Glass Etc. in Rye, Sussex.

On Friday 26 October Andy will be in the Clare Town Hall where he will give his Beyond the Roadshow talk, and later there will be a charity auction to raise funds for both EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospices)and the Glass Society.

Tickets are £12 per person to include a complimentary glass of wine or fruit juice and nibbles.

On Saturday 27 October, there will be a full programme in the Community Centre when Andy is joined by Katharine Coleman MBE, the renowned glass engraver, and Stewart and Kathryn Hearn.

Stewart Hearn is a glass artist and Kathryn is a ceramicist who has recently retired from her position as Course Director at Central St Martins, London. They now work together at their home and studio in Chatteris, Cambs.

Andy will be talking about Lalique glass and conducting a glass ID session, and visitors are invited to bring along any pieces they may want to know more about.

Tickets are£25 per person to include refreshments and a buffet lunch.
