FINDING HIDDEN TREASURE IN THE NATION'S HOMES
Britain is a nation of collectors and hoarders. But few of us realise that the knick-knacks left to us by our Grandparents, the silverware we picked up for a bargain at a boot sale, or that unusual piece of furniture taking up space in the loft could be of significant value.
“It’s normal for most people to have something in the home that is worth £500 to £800 without realising it,” explains Drew. “Usually it’s a piece of furniture or jewellery, quite often a family piece.”
Drew and Direct Line are asking people to send in a picture and details of their unusual and interesting pieces, and Drew will select those that interest him the most and give their owners his expert advice and insight.
Mike Shaw, Direct Line’s Digital Editor, says of the campaign: “How many of us have family heirlooms, or bits and pieces we’ve picked up in second-hand shops or at car boot sales, that are worth more than we think? Odds are it’s more of us than we imagine. Drew can spot real gems like nobody else, so we’re delighted to be working with him to uncover some of Britain’s hidden treasure."
