Butchoff Antiques Embraces Flower Power at the San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show

Antique furniture specialists, Butchoff Antiques will be exhibiting for the first time at the San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show, the oldest international art and antiques show on the West Coast, from 26-29 October 2017.

Established in 1964, Butchoff Antiques, whose headquarters are in Kensington, London, are specialists in exceptional English and continental furniture, objects d’art, clocks, mirrors, and paintings from the C18th and C19th, and boast one of the largest inventories in England.

The 2017 theme of the San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show is 'Flower Power: Floral Imagery in Art, Antiques & Design' - a salute to the 50th anniversary of San Francisco's Summer of Love.  As such, Butchoff will be featuring a curated collection of English and European furniture and decorative objects from the C18th to C20th.

An Irish Looking Glass in the Rococo Manner of Thomas Johnson Probably by Butler of Dublin.  Irish, circa 1890.  This large whimsical giltwood mirror is topped with the mythical Ho-Ho bird. The idea of the bird derives from an ancient Japanese story of the rising Phoenix and has been said to bring luck and symbolise good fortune. Ho-Ho birds began appearing on decorative items including mirrors, furniture and porcelain in England in the 18th-century.
