Alfies Antiques Bennie Gray presents Baroque Voices at The Music Room

Bennie Gray, founder of Alfies Antiques Market and Grays Antiques and Andrew van der Beek are presenting 6 music recitals which are currently taking place at The Music Room in the heart of Mayfair.

Every Thursday at 1pm, the intimate hideaway venue above Grays Mews Antique Market, close to Bond Street station, plays host to the famous series of lunchtime concerts, first launched 38 years ago.

Andrew van der Beek and Bennie Gray launched the first series of lunchtime concerts of early music in the Music Room in 1979, when Andrew was able to entice several talented early and baroque musicians to perform, including the world renowned countertenor, Alfred Deller, for whom it was sadly his last public performance.

Dame Emma Kirkby, one of the original musicians to take part, will return to where she sang all those years ago. Joining her is a full roster of distinguished early music performers, with vocals complemented by lute and harp.

Each concert comprises 40 minutes of wonderful music, with a glass of bubbly for a small fee. Advance tickets have already been purchased by people who attended the original run in 1979.

The schedule of lunchtime concerts is as follows:
