THE annual National Antiques Day in Britain last year proved a great success for dealers who took the initiative and did something special. They not only attracted the attention of the media but made an additional worthwhile profit.
The aim is for every dealer to take the initiative and encourage newcomers into the world of antiques.
People who took up the invitation to enter an antiques shop for the first time discovered a warm welcome and many items of interest.
One of the brightest ideas ever to enter the antiques trade calendar, National Antiques Day was once again a day to remember, especially for the people who bought their first antique then.
Besides advance notice in the leading antiques publications, press and radio stations got over the message of the advantage of dealing with dealers when it comes to buying and selling antiques.
The BADA and LAPADA led the trade association support. Individual dealers downloaded posters from the internet, organised exhibitions and other events. Publicity appeared in many local newspapers. Some of the most successful promotions were the simplest.
