THE WAY FORWARD -  THE VOICE OF THE TRADE ON THE INTERNET
The first issue of Antiques & Art Independent was published in 1997 when news about antiques in Britain had been dominated for too long by saleroom publicity funded by the deep pockets of the international auction houses.
At the same time, more major British antiques fairs were being organised by large companies and the trade press dominated by a large public-company publisher.
A real need was felt for a newspaper devoted solely to the interest and opinion of antiques dealers. Antiques & Art Independent has filled this gap over the years providing an absolutely independent voice of the trade.
In 1998, Antiques & Art Independent linked up with an American antiques newspaper and established an internet edition to promote the British trade on both sides of the Atlantic.
Since then we have also linked up with the websites of leading antiques publications in Australia, Continental Europe and South Africa.

Above all, antiques dealers and serious buyers and sellers need new contacts as never before. The internet is the way forward and www.antiquesnews.co.uk provides a unique website which is read from page to page like a newspaper with Antiques & Art Independent writers contributing many feature articles.
Indeed, Antiquesnews continues the spirit of Antiques & Art Independent on the internet promoting the British antiques trade around the world.
For everyone, this offers the widest possible access to the tremendous opportunities available to buy antiques in Britain at a sensible price from individual dealers who guarantee the authenticity of their stock and care about their customers.
Antiques dealers offer down to earth value. And the place to find it is in these pages based on the principles of Antiques & Art Independent pioneered in half a million printed copies.
